The first season of Severence dropped in 2022, and it was the kind that swept me off my feet. With an engaging storyline, I couldn’t help but binge-watch all the episodes. Before I knew it, I was done with the whole season.
After that ending, I was left twiddling my thumbs, waiting for what’s to come.
The second season of Severance dropped in January this year, and it has kept up the reputation of the first one. People have gone as far as describing it as one of the best shows of all time!
Now the question is: Is Severance really worth all the hype? Let’s find out!
The Basic Plot
The plot of the show is what makes it unique. Severance has the kind of story that keeps you hooked right from the first episode.
The concept of the show is that there are a couple of colleagues working in an office, but their minds have been surgically altered through a procedure called “severance” to divide their professional memories from personal ones.
Things start getting interesting when a new colleague joins the team. It is up to the existing employees to figure out who this mysterious colleague is, as they tackle various challenges at Lumon, the place they work at.
If you are a working individual, then you should definitely give this show a shot.
Easily Bingeable
Bingeing a show is no cakewalk, especially if it’s a boring one. Luckily, Severance isn’t a boring show, which means that you can easily binge it. In fact, watching all the episodes back-to-back will help you keep up with the storyline since you can forget the key plot points if you take a lot of breaks.
With the second season out, you can start binging the first season and continue into the second one. To make the most out of your bingeing experience for both of the seasons, just make sure that you use an internet service that comes without a data cap, and can help you stream in crisp resolution.
In that case, I recommend that you use Xfinity Internet since it offers a high-speed internet connection, allowing you to stream in the best quality. Just be sure to take a look at Xfinity Internet plans to get an internet connection at a discounted rate!
Great Character Development
A show can only be good if it has great character development, and that is something Severance did not shy away from. Although the show took its sweet time to develop all the characters, I’ll have to say the payoff was worth it.
The show actually lets you relate with all the characters, since everyone has something significant going on in their lives. Though every character is living a “severed” life with their memories divided, it isn’t really that difficult to follow. So, if you’re a fan of great character development, you will love this show.
As Mysterious as It Gets
I’ve always been a huge fan of dark and mysterious shows. I enjoy watching shows like Bates Motel, which was more or less underrated with its dark tones, but it was a pretty good watch. Though Severance isn’t dark, it’s still as mysterious as it could be.
I absolutely loved the mysterious elements of the Lumon company and how they surgically segregate their employees’ memories between work memories and personal memories. I was intrigued by how they carry out the process, and how successful it is.
However, the whole mystery behind the severance process is for you to solve as you watch the show!
Captivating Performances
The show wouldn’t have been half as good if it wasn’t for the actors. They really poured their heart and soul into the characters and it showed. These actors include Adam Scott, John Turturro, and Patricia Arquette who brought their characters to life.
Every emotion and acting in the show was as riveting as possible. Even the dialogue seemed full of life, and this had a lot to do with me bingeing the show. The second season allowed us to delve deeper into the histories of the characters, which was a great touch.
There were also some new characters that made the show even more interesting to watch. Plus, we finally got to see a lot more about the Eagan family, which helped uncover more of the mystery.
If you have the time, then you should definitely watch both seasons of Severance. It’ll definitely be worth your while and you’ll finally find a good show that’s enthralling enough for you to watch it. Happy bingeing!
